ReclaiMe Free RAID Recovery did its best work while identifying disk order, block size, start offset, plus parity rotation. Our RAID 0 set was recognized without manual geometry work. RAID 5 took longer, though the final layout matched the configuration used to build the test array.
The trouble starts after reconstruction. The free utility primarily discovers the array layout. Saving ordinary files usually means opening ReclaiMe File Recovery, scanning the rebuilt volume, then purchasing the suitable license. That handoff makes the product feel more like two connected utilities than one complete recovery tool.
The opening screen is fairly plain, but the overall process is not. A broken NAS may first need a scan in ReclaiMe File Recovery. On our healthy-member RAID 0 recreation, ReclaiMe restored most documents plus JPEG files with usable names. The degraded RAID 5 set produced more partial video files, duplicate folders, plus carved files without their original paths. Our measured recovery rate was 71% for the SSD-based array, while the SD-card set reached 67%.
No recovery app can restore overwritten sectors or make a physically unstable disk safe. Still, Disk Drill presented the stronger set of usable previews in our scenarios. Its byte-to-byte image workflow was also easier to find before scanning questionable media.

We built logical RAID 0 plus RAID 5 sets from 500 GB member images containing office files, JPEGs, RAW photos, MP4 clips, plus ZIP archives. Test failures included deleted metadata, a missing RAID 5 member, a damaged partition table, plus a reformatted volume. Each app used the same Windows 11 workstation, SATA connections, destination SSD, plus source images.

Disk Drill is the better fit for most personal RAID recovery attempts. It brings disk imaging, scan controls, searchable results, previews, plus recovery into a cleaner interface. Native Windows plus macOS apps also remove ReclaiMe's biggest platform restriction.
It is not a substitute for a lab when a drive clicks, disappears, overheats, or stalls during reads. For logical damage involving readable members, though, Disk Drill made it easier to create images first, inspect found files, then decide whether a license was justified.
A ReclaiMe user said the software restored data from an accidentally reset Buffalo LinkStation RAID 0, though the results included odd file sizes plus some incorrect file-type labels.
